Materials
A practical 'step by step' guide to rough seas in watercolour

Watch video on materials - In 'Be prepared' module 1.

Brushes: Pro Arte round watercolour brushes:

sizes 12, 6, 2 and no 1 rigger

Stiff bristle brush (optional)

Paint: Student or professional watercolour tubes:

Ultramarine blue,  Cerulean blue,  Cobalt blue,  Cadmium yellow and Burnt sienna

Gouache paint: Permanent white

White acrylic ink - optional

Paper: 140lb weight NOT surface watercolour paper (at least A3 size)

Board: Offcut of plywood or MDF - approx 1cm thick

Gum strip - approx 5cm wide (no thinner)

Palette - 'Daisy' style with big wells.

Pastel - Good quality white soft pastel (not oil pastel)

Clingfilm

Salt - table salt (other salts can be experimented with too)

Toothbrush - for flicking paint

Dip pen - for signing work (optional)

Water- soluble - coloured pencil (maybe a blue one)
